Flyers bolster Phantoms depth, sign Logan Pyett

The Flyers on Friday continued to bolster depth for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, signing defenseman Logan Pyett to a one-year deal.

Pyett, 27, joins the Phantoms after spending the past two seasons in the KHL. He split last season between Vladivostok and Cheropevets, totalling five goals and 15 points in 53 games.

Drafted in the seventh round by Detroit in 2006, Pyett played the entirety of his North American professional career in the American League. His last AHL action came in 2012-13, where he scored seven goals and 39 points with the Connecticut Whale (now Hartford Wolf Pack). 

Pyett was also a mainstay on Grand Rapids' blueline between 2008 and 2012, scoring 23 goals and 93 points with a minus-3 rating in 288 games. Additionally, he was a member of Canada's gold medal-winning team at the 2008 World Juniors tournament.

Pyett will compete with the likes of Shayne Gostisbehere, Samuel Morin, Robert Hagg and Jesper Pettersson among others for a spot on the Phantoms' blueline. The move is the latest on Ron Hextall's initiative to bolster the Phantoms in 2015-16.
