Jayson Werth Headed to the Slammer for Reckless Driving

Many fans still believe that if the Phillies resigned Jayson Werth or never traded Hunter Pence away, we wouldn't necessarily be in this rebuilding predicament. While Hunter Pence is probably still busy celebrating a World Championship, Jayson Werth is doing other things to keep busy…a court appearance to be exact.

NBC's Julie Carey originially reported the conviction that had Werth going 105mph in a 55mph zone back in July. She says he will likely serve five days out of the 10.

According to the Washington Post, Werth plans to appeal:

Werth, 35, was pulled over on July 6 while driving 105 mph in a 55 mph per hour zone on Route 193 in Fairfax County, according to court records. Werth was driving a two-door Porsche at the time of the offense, which occurred around 9:40 a.m. on a Sunday morning.

Werth’s attorney said that he plans to appeal the conviction.

Whether Jayson spends the full 10 days or just part of it behind bars, I am sure he will have to wonder if driving recklessly was really "Werth" it. Yeah, I had to.
