Philadelphia: There is something special about playing in front of the home fans for the 1st time this season & that is what we are seeing with the Philadelphia Wings as they open their 25-26 schedule with their home opener on Saturday afternoon against the Colorado Mammoth from Xfinity Mobile Arena.  The Wings are coming into this season looking to rebound from how last year went & the team is under Ian Rubel, who returns for his 2nd season as Head Coach.

How the game went:
Early in the game, Nick Damude would make some big saves as the Wings took a bad penalty to start the game. The Wings would get the scoring started by Eric Fannell, a few minutes later, Joe Resetarits would make it 2-0 Wings off a nice pass in the front

How the wings made it 2-0 by Joe Resetarits

The Wings would take a 2-1 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. Nick Damude would make 11 saves in the 1st quarter on 12 shots.  The Wings had a power play to start the 2nd quarter & had a couple of scoring chances but could not finish. A few minutes later, Colorado tied the game at 2 with 12:40 left. The Wings would respond with 4 straight goals for the 6-2 lead & the goals were by Evan Messenger, Landen Sinfield, Brennan O’Neill & the 2nd of the game from Joe Resetarits. Eric Fannell would bang in his 2nd of the game for a 7-3 lead

In the 3rd quarter, the Wings would keep the pressure on Colorado and would take a 7-4 lead into the 4th quarter. The Mammoth would cut the lead down to 2, and the Wings would respond on goal from Phil Caputo for the 8-5 lead.  Things would get interesting late as the Mammouth cut the Wings’ lead to 1 at 8-7, & Wings Goalie Nick Damude would stand on his head with big saves

The game would come down to the final seconds & the Philadelphia Wings would hold on for the 8-7 win in the Home Opener

What is next:
The Wings will now head on the road for the next 2 games on December 20 at Rochester and December 27 at Ottawa. Their next home game will be on February 9 against Rochester
