Marlins Late Inning Homerun Derby to Take Game 2

Here we go again with rain delays…. one hour 38 minutes rain delay to start the game. I think the Phillies are 2-5 in rain delay starts this year. Oh no, we actually won two games after a rain delay start; it was just recently with the Dbacks and the Braves. Please tell me if there are more.

Phillies starter Cole Hamels with a solid outing, holding the Marlins to just three runs on four hits over seven innings while walking two, striking out seven, but Hamels made a pair of mistakes, which allowed the Marlins to score runs… let's have fun with homeruns, it was just the beginning! Hamels left after seven innings and was in line for the win…. here comes the fun part.

Cole Hamels even contributed offensively by driving in two of Philadelphia's four runs. Yes, Hamels even legged out an infield single for an RBI. However, the bullpen could not hold a 4-3 lead and he recieved a no decision.

Antonio Bastardo relieved Hamels in the eighth, but he issued back-to-back walks to open the inning. After a Jose Lopez sacrifice bunt… Marlins 1B Gaby Sanchez murdered the baseball for a three-run homer off of David Herndon to allow the Marlins get ahead; here comes Mike Cameron with another blast of the night, then former Phillies infielder Greg Dobbs (should have kept) smashed a pinch-homerun to cap off a homerun derby for the Marlins.

Phillies are now 88-47 of the season… maybe give you good news: Braves lost tonight as well. Magic number is 18.

Roy Halladay vs Anibal Sanchez are on the mound today (tomorrow) at 110pm… See you there! It's also the last game the Phillies play at Sun Life Stadium. Let's cry about the memories when its the final out.
