Mental mistakes hurts Drexel in loss to Hofstra
Philadelphia: The Calendar has turned to 2026 & that means College Basketball Conference play is in full motion & on Saturday afternoon, we had a CAA battle as the Drexel Dragons took on the Hofstra Pride from the Daskalakis Athletic Center. Drexel comes into the game with 6-9 (0-2 in CAA) and off a loss to UNCW, while Hofstra made their trip to Philly with 10-4 (1-0 in CAA) and off a win over Campbell.

How the game went:
Both Drexel & Hofstra hit 3 pointers to get the scoring started. The Dragons would have their issues with some of their shot selections & their misses at the basket would show. The Pride would have some nice passes including this one
We are playing a beautiful brand of basketball today!

The Dragoons would get the lead down to 10 at 29-19 with 6:52 left. From that point on, it would be all Hofstra as they got the lead up as high at 16 at 35-19 & would take 40-25 lead into halftime, The crowd at the DAC could not believe what they saw & Dragons were shot 9-32 for 28% & 2-13 for 15% from 3 point range in the 1st half, so based off what we saw, what could Drexel do to get back into the game. The Pride got the lead up to 14 at 42-28 early in the 2nd half, & the Dragons would go on a 15-2 run over 5 minutes to cut the Hofstra lead to 2 at 44-42 with 11:54 left in the 2nd half. During that run by the dragons, there was good defensive play

The Pride would respond to the run from the dragons & got the lead back up to 13 at 64-51 with 5 minutes left, at this point, could Drexel have 1 more run in them & the answer would be O hell yeah as they fight all the way back and bang in a monster 3 pointer from Shane Blakeney to cut the lead to 1 at 68-67 with 16 seconds left

The Dragons would have 1 final chance for the win, but their choice of shot selections at the end was very strange & confusing as Hofstra would hold on for the 70-67 win. Drexel would show better effort in the 2nd half; whatever they showed just did not show in the first half.
