Mock Draft

Well, its draft day! We are now just a few hours away from receiving the answers to all of our questions. What will the Sixers do in this year’s draft? Over the past few weeks, the whole city has been buzzing with their own predictions and trade proposals for the Sixers. Now it’s time to hear my 2014 NBA Mock Draft.  

1.       Cleveland Cavaliers- Andrew Wiggins, F, Kansas – We heard yesterday that Cleveland was split between Parker and Wiggins, but later last night we heard that they made a decision. All the stuff about bringing in Exum for a workout this morning was just them trying to bait the Sixers into a dumb trade. They don’t want Exum. They will wind up taking the guy with the greatest potential in this draft, Andrew Wiggins.

2.       Milwaukee Bucks- Jabari Parker, F, Duke – The Bucks have the easiest pick in this year’s draft. Whoever doesn’t go #1, they take at #2. They really like Exum but at the end of the day I think they have to take the safest player in the draft, Jabari Parker.

3.       Philadelphia 76ers– Joel Embiid, C, Kansas – Sam Hinkie and his staff will be calling Cleveland right up until the last second before they take Wiggins. His offers just won’t be enough and the Sixers will have a major decision between Exum or Embiid at #3. If Embiid stays healthy he can become a dominant Center piece in this league. Put him together with Noel and you have one hell of a dominant frontcourt. The Sixers love Exum but I really don’t think he can play alongside MCW and if you trade MCW you know have an 18 year old kid in charge and running the point for this team. Another reason they should take Embiid at #3 is he could become a factor if Hinkie wants to go after LeBron. Just throwing that out there.

4.       Orlando Magic– Dante Exum, G, Australia – The Magic are in need of a PG now that they’ve traded Aaron Afflalo, so this is an obvious pick here at #4. Exum would give them a solid, young core of Exum, Vucevic, and Oladipo.

5.       Utah Jazz- Noah Vonleh, F, Indiana – Vonleh is a solid young player who would jump right into the starting lineup in Utah. I feel he would fit very well with Gordon Heyward who the Jazz just resigned.

6.       Boston Celtics- Marcus Smart, G, Oklahoma St – Smart is clearly one of the best offensive minded players in this draft. He averaged almost 19 points per game last season and would fit well with Rondo in Boston.

7.       Los Angeles Lakers- Julius Randle, F, Kentucky – Randle would be a great fit for the Lakers and he’s become the new face of the franchise once Kobe retires. He’s a valuable piece as long as his foot doesn’t become a major issue.

8.       Sacramento Kings- Aaron Gordon, F, Arizona – Gordon could easily become a better player than Noah Vonleh and I believe that will be the case. Gordon has been compared to Blake Griffin and shows signs of being a great talent, potentially a star.

9.       Charlotte Hornets- Doug McDermott, F, Creighton – McDermott can score. He’d become a valuable asset in the Charlotte system along with Walker and Kidd-Gilchrist.

10.   Philadelphia 76ers- Nik Stauskas, G, Michigan – I would take Stauskas here with the 10^th pick. His three point shooting ability would take all the pressure to shoot off MCW. Also, MCW would essentially become an assist machine with the ability to get to the rim. Stauskas also showed scouts this past year that he can get to the rim himself. He would be a perfect fit with the Sixers.

That’s the way I see the top 10 without any trades. Personally, I do believe there will be some trades and maybe some involving the Sixers. The next era of Sixers basketball relies on the decisions Sam Hinkie makes tonight! Let’s Go! #InHinkieWeTrust #TogetherWeBuild
