New Era and Major League Baseball (MLB) have unveiled the 2025 Independence Day Collection including the on-field caps that will be worn by all MLB teams on and/or near July 4th (or July 1st for our Canadian friends, eh!).

And as you guessed, they’re really bad! Take a look:

A look at the Philadelphia Phillies New Era Independence Day Collection on-field cap.

Let’s break this down:

  • Carolina blue not found on the flag of the United States of America
  • Dumb rope thing
  • Stripes on the dumb rope thing
  • Squished together desecration of the flag on the logo
  • Dumb rope thing

Look, I’m older so I certainly don’t get the “style” that the kids are wearing nowadays. Hell, I still rock my hat backwards because of The Kid. Anyway, as it is every year, this “collection” is simply a money grab by Major League Baseball.

It’s just ironic that a team that is BASED IN THE CRADLE OF LIBERTY has to wear a “special” cap for the occasion. I mean it’s not like this ballclub lacks imagery that is synonymous with INDEPENDENCE!

Sigh!
