Flyers Postgame Report: Losing Streak Hits 4 as Stars Dismantle Flyers

At the start of the week, the Flyers played a pair of competitive games against Toronto, losing by one goal in each. On Thursday, they turned in a clunker.

The Dallas Stars took control from the beginning, scoring just 1:45 into the first period on their way to handing the Flyers a 4-1 loss on Thursday night at Wells Fargo Center.


The Stars took just 1:45 to get on the board. Off a rush, Matt Dumba centered a pass that was tipped in by Mavrik Bourque for his third goal of the season to make it 1-0.

At 9:38, the Stars extended the lead. It was another goal off the rush, as Roope Hintz had his initial redirection stopped but put home the rebound for his 19th goal of the season to make it 2-0.

Through 20 minutes, shots were 9-9.

The Stars extended the lead at 8:41 of the second. Off a 3-on-1, Wyatt Johnston picked a corner and scored his 10th goal of the season, making it 3-0.

Through two periods, shots were 18-17 Dallas.

The Flyers got on the board at 6:47 of the third. Morgan Frost put home a rebound for his eighth goal of the season, making it a 3-1 game.

That was as close as the Flyers would get, as Miro Heiskanen iced the game into an empty net.

Casey DeSmith made 27 saves on 28 shots in the win. Sam Ersson made 19 saves on 22 shots in the loss.

Jason Robertson had two assists for Dallas.

The Flyers are back on the ice on Saturday night to take on the Anaheim Ducks at 7 p.m.
