PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA - DECEMBER 19: Noah Cates #27 of the Philadelphia Flyers smiles after scoring a first period goal against the Los Angeles Kings at the Wells Fargo Center on December 19, 2024 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

As the 2024-25 season progressed, Noah Cates took on more responsibility, eventually centering the Flyers most consistent line along Tyson Foerster and Bobby Brink. Foerster, a pending restricted free agent, was just rewarded with a two-year deal last week. Cates was also a restricted free agent, and his new deal is now complete.

The Flyers announced on Tuesday that they have re-signed Cates to a four-year deal with a $4 million AAV.

Cates, 26, scored 16 goals and 37 points in 78 games in the 2024-25 season, setting a new career-high in goals and falling one point short of matching his career-high total in points. Cates also saw increased ice time from the previous season, up to an average of 15:53 in 2024-25 from 13:48 in 2023-24.

Cates was drafted in the fifth round of the 2017 NHL Draft with the 137th overall pick. He has 40 goals and 102 points in 235 career NHL games.

With the signings of Cates and Foerster complete, the Flyers have just two RFAs left without contracts: Cam York and Jakob Pelletier. They have approximately $18.992 million in cap space following the Cates deal.
