Phillies Trade An Infielder To The Boston Red Sox

Well, it's not the infielder you expected. Today, on the waiver trade deadline, the Phillies traded infielder John McDonald and cash to the Boston Red Sox for pitcher Nefi Ogando. The Red Sox are McDonald's fifth organization this season.

Ogando is 24 years old and has never played above class A. The Phillies are getting back an actual player in exchange for McDonald, an improvement over what they gave up.

Expect to see Freddy Galvis and/or Cesar Hernandez tomorrow. Rosters expand tomorrow and any Phillie on the 40 man roster can be called up.
