It was a light week in Flyers hockey action, but the Flyers managed three points in their two games this week.

With another week in the books, it's time to hand out our Player and Play of the Week honors.

Our Player of the Week is Chris VandeVelde. VandeVelde scored in the Flyers 3-2 shootout loss on Thursday and has consistently been one of the Flyers best players over the last two weeks.

Our Play of the Week goes to Wayne Simmonds, who scored the game-winning goal in Sunday afternoon's 3-1 win over the Washington Capitals. Simmonds takes a pass from Sean Couturier and charges up the wing before unleashing a wrist shot past Braden Holtby.

The Flyers will return to the ice on Tuesday when they face the Montreal Canadiens. They close out a four-game road trip with games on Friday in Columbus and Sunday in Buffalo.
