Raptors Handle Sixers 125-114
The Sixers defense was non-existent tonight in Canada as the Toronto Raptors ran up and down the floor, dropping 125 points on the Sixers behind 29 points from PG Kyle Lowry to lead all scorers. Since the losing streak, the Sixers are now 2-4 following the loss vs Toronto tonight. There is some good news though, with tonights loss the Sixers have secured, at worst, the fifth overall pick in this June’s NBA draft.
After playing in some tight games recently, competitive one’s as well, the Sixers sort of dropped the ball tonight against the Raptors, especially the defense. Jonas Valanciunas, for Toronto, had himself a great game gathering 26 points and racking up 12 rebounds.
The Sixers didn’t look bad though. We have to remember the offense did put 114 points on the board and Sims dropping 22 points was no doubt a good sight. Michael Carter Williams was a few ticks shy of a triple double in the losing effort posting 19 points, 8 assists, and 9 rebounds. The team looked extremely smooth running offensively and continuously put the ball in the basket all night long. They shot 51.8 percent from the floor, which is their 5th best league mark this season. But in the end, Toronto took their scoring to another level and it was just too much for the Sixers young, immature defense to handle.
Yes, the Sixers did lose in the end, but they continue to play solid basketball these past couple of weeks. It has been fun to watch this team because at least their competitive. Toronto is a good team that has the playoffs in sight for this season. The Sixers on the other hand, definitely don’t have the playoffs on their minds right now. They continue to build but the fact that they compete and playing tough is becoming a trend it could be a very good sign that the Sixers are without a doubt going in the right direction.
