Report: Trent Cole will be released by the Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles continue to tinker with their roster.   So far the Eagles have released veteran players and created salary cap space.  According to a report, the Eagles appear prepared to lose a familiar veteran face in their defense.

Geoff Mosher of CSN reports he hears outside linebacker Trent Cole's time with the Phillies is ending.

Did more digging. Told by two league sources that Trent Cole's days with the #Eagles are going to end. Team will eventually release him.

Mosher shortly before reported that talks "aren't progressing well" with Cole.

Just yesterday, an NJ.com report said that the Eagles were looking to restructure a deal with Cole.  Cole's deal calls for a salary of $11.6 million in 2016, a cap hit that is more than the Eagles are likely willing to commit to.  

Cole is now 32 years old.  Cole was drafted by the Eagles in round five of the 2005 draft out of Cincinnati.  Should the Eagles cut Cole, he will leave the Eagles having made two Pro Bowl appearances.
