Sixers to hire Ned Cohen for ‘high-ranking basketball job’

With just over 10 days until the NBA's Draft lottery, the Philadelphia 76ers reportedly have made a hire that will help shape their restructured front-office. 

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of the Vertical, the Sixers have hired Ned Cohen away from the league office to join their front-office to fill a 'high-ranking basketball job'.

Though it isn't immediately clear what position that Cohen will fill, his hiring is a crucial one for the Sixers. Not only is he immediately going to be one of the most important voices in a front-office that has quite a few important decisions that will have to be made in the next few months, but his future with the team could come in an even more important role. Though Bryan Colangelo is the team's current president of basketball operations, the team's website doesn't currently list a person who fills the title of general manager, and as Wojnarowski alluded to, Cohen could potentially fill that role at some point. 

The Sixers are in the process of re-structuring their front-office after former general manager and president of basketball operations Sam Hinkie resigned nearly one month ago.
