The Flyers face off against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday night, a team looking to extend their lead for the final wildcard spot.

The Flyers’ three-game winning streak to start the season was snapped at the hands of the Panthers, who scored two goals in the third period to claim a 4-3 decision on Wednesday night.

Claude Giroux was introduced as a member of the Florida Panthers on Monday, his choice team and reportedly the only team he would waive his no-movement clause for a trade to take place. “Those details are going to stay private with Chuck Fletcher, but Florida was top of my list,” Giroux said.

A strong second period with three goals for the Flyers made it a one-goal game again, but the Panthers closed out strong to secure a 6-3 decision over the Flyers on Thursday night. 

The Flyers have a chance to get their second three-game winning streak on Thursday night when they take on the Florida Panthers, but the task will certainly not be easy. The Panthers enter the night in a tie for second in the NHL and first in the Eastern Conference with Carolina at 83 points.

The Flyers next opponent is one they defeated just days ago. The Flyers took care of the Florida Panthers in a 4-1 win on Monday night. Now the two teams meet again in Florida on Thursday night.

The Flyers next six games come against teams right in the thick of the playoff race. For now, the focus is simply on the next one, which comes against the Florida Panthers at Wells Fargo Center on Monday night.
