While there were dicey moments during the first couple of periods, the Flyers got some solid performances from some additions to the lineup and players making one last push to be on the roster. More from some of the standouts from the Flyers win over the Bruins in our Postgame Review.
It wasn’t a pretty game from start to finish, but a strong third period led the Flyers to a 4-1 win over the Bruins in the preseason finale on Saturday from TD Garden.
It’s the final trial run for the Flyers in the preseason, as the team closes out the eight-game schedule with a trip to Boston to face the Bruins. Game time is at 5 p.m.
Despite the three-goal rally that made it a game again on the scoreboard, the Flyers were badly outplayed for a stretch of the game and made mistakes that can’t translate to regular-season play. More from the Flyers 4-3 loss to the Bruins in our Postgame Review.
A frantic rally nearly erased it a horrendous start. The Flyers scored three times in 2:44 to cut the Boston lead to one with 8:43 remaining in regulation. They could not get any closer though, as the Bruins held on for a 4-3 win over the Flyers at Wells Fargo Center on Monday night.
The competition for the final spots has entered the final week of the preseason, which includes three more games for the Flyers. The first is on Monday night at Wells Fargo Center, as the Flyers take on the Boston Bruins.
The first preseason game of the NHL season happened at 2:30 a.m. ET. The game was held in Shenzhen, China, the first of two games between the Boston Bruins and Calgary Flames in the preseason taking place in China. That and more in Around the NHL.
