The Flyers acquired goalie Dustin Tokarski from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for future considerations. Tokarski has been assigned to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. In addition, the Phantoms traded goalie Leland Irving to the San Diego Gulls for future considerations.
The Flyers fourth line of Taylor Leier, Scott Laughton and Michael Raffl have been held without a point thus far in three games, but have shown depth and speed that are important for good teams. With their start, points should start coming soon too.
The Flyers were controlling another third period in Anaheim on Saturday, but couldn’t score, forcing overtime. Less than a minute into the extra session, it was Wayne Simmonds playing hero again, scoring the game-winning goal to give the Flyers a 3-2 win over the Ducks.
The Flyers have split the first two games of the road trip to open the 2017-18 season, while the Ducks are coming off an emotional win in their home opener on Thursday. Game time is set for 10 p.m.
