The Flyers split their split-squad games against the Islanders on Wednesday, getting an overtime win in Allentown and falling in Brooklyn.
Among the 53 players left on the camp roster, the Flyers will split them into two teams for Wednesday night’s split-squad games against the New York Islanders. Both games, from Allentown and Brooklyn, start at 7 p.m.
It’s still early in camp, with just three days of practice and one preseason game in the books, but Oskar Lindblom and Nolan Patrick are getting every opportunity to be part of the Flyers roster. And so far, they are sticking with the veterans at camp.
The groups remained heavily the same at Tuesday’s practice for the Flyers, but the lines were not. Claude Giroux and Sean Couturier skated on the same line with Giroux playing the wing. The line of Oskar Lindblom, Nolan Patrick and Travis Konecny also skated together, just as they did for the team’s first preseason game on Sunday.
While everything is still in its early stages, Flyers head coach Dave Hakstol is keen on having his players be consistent no matter if they’re fighting for a roster spot or coming into another season as an NHL vet.
The Flyers announced that they have sent forward Anthony Salinitri to juniors and defenseman Frank Hora to the Phantoms, putting the training camp roster at 55 and had new groups for practice that shed some light on the potential final roster.
