Flyers, NHL mourn passing of ‘Mr. Hockey’

Embed from Getty Images   Friday morning brought the sad news of the passing of Gordie Howe at the age of 88. As the NHL learned of a loss of a legend, tributes began pouring in from some of the greatest members of the hockey community, including several Flyers.

Embed from Getty Images   They called him Mr. Hockey for a reason. His family was hockey after all. Gordie Howe, the hockey legend who is widely regarded among the greatest players in the history of the game, passed away on Friday morning at the age of 88.

Around the NHL: Ovechkin’s milestone, Nabokov and more

Alexander Ovechkin scored his 30th goal of the season in the first period of Sunday's game against St. Louis. It was very significant goal. It marked the 10th time in his first 10 seasons in which Ovechkin has reached the 30 goal plateau. He is only the fifth player in NHL history to do so.
