The first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs presented many close series, including a record-setting 18 games to go to overtime in the first round of the playoffs. All eight series came to a close by Sunday night, setting the stage for the second round.
Following Thursday night’s games, three series have come to a close with three teams advancing to the second round of the playoffs and marking the end of the season for three others. That leaves five series still locked in tight, competitive battle as the weekend hits.

The Philadelphia Flyers missed out on the playoffs by eight points this past season. However, if they won a few key games, they would have had gained the 10 points needed to clinch a postseason position.
After so much debate and speculation, the NHL finally released a statement regarding the issue on Monday and it is now official: NHL players will not be a part of the 2018 Olympics.
The Flyers have now won four consecutive games.
The NHL All-Star Game takes place this Sunday afternoon. It is an exhibition of grace, strength and all-around athleticism. For kids growing up who did not possess the abilities required to play the game of hockey, and for those who did, the All-Star Game was like watching titans or demigods on skates.
