Pittsburgh Penguins
Ever since he entered the NHL, Sean Couturier has been an under-appreciated player for the Philadelphia Flyers. Now he has turned into a valuable top-six center for the team that drafted him back in 2011.
The jerseys for the Stadium Series between the Flyers and Penguins were finally unveiled and Carter Hart receives an NHL honor for the month of January.
In Pittsburgh, though, the Flyers had one of their better wins of the season. It wasn’t a pretty win, but between Anthony Stolarz’s strong play in net and contributions up and down the lineup, the Flyers managed to hold off the Penguins and steal a win in a time when nothing is coming easy and emotions are certainly high.
A shorthanded goal by Dale Weise proved to be the game-winner as Anthony Stolarz earned his first NHL win in since April 1, 2017 as the Flyers defeated the Penguins, 4-2, on Saturday night.
The Flyers face the Pittsburgh Penguins, a team that has certainly had its struggles this season. But last season’s playoff series, when the Flyers were heavily outplayed by the Penguins, is still in recent memory.
While it is hard to imagine a scenario where the Flyers take no penalties during the series against the Pittsburgh Penguins, their penalty kill is going to have to come through for them.
