The Reading Royals, the Philadelphia Flyers ECHL Affiliate, have named James Henry as new head coach and director of hockey operations. Henry will replace Kirk MacDonald who resigned a few week ago to take a USHL coaching job.
Kirk MacDonald has stepped down as head coach and director of hockey operations for the Reading Royals, the team announced on Monday. MacDonald has served as the Royals head coach since 2017 and led Reading to the 2021-22 ECHL Eastern Conference North Division title and an appearance in the Kelly Cup Playoffs. The Royals lost in the division finals to Newfoundland (TOR) 4-3 in the best of seven series.
