View image | gettyimages.com It's been five games for Shayne Gostisbehere, but I've seen enough. The Flyers should not return the 22-year-old rookie defenseman to the minors after Mark Streit returns from injury, or for any other reason for that matter. It's not just because he happens to have more goals scored than the […]
Photo: Nina Weiss/Flyerdelphia The Flyers have recalled forward Colin McDonald from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, GM Ron Hextall announced on Tuesday. McDonald, who had served as the team captain in Lehigh Valley, recently returned from injury after going down in the Phantoms season opener. He has one assist in four games with the Phantoms.
You can't say Rod Brind'Amour wasn't honest in his opening remarks as he became the 24th member of the Flyers Hall of Fame. "I am honored and humbled to be here tonight. I didn't know what to expect coming out here," the Flyer forward of nine years said. "It's been 16 years. I wasn't sure […]
It’s been 18 games and the Flyers are now 6-8-4 after a 3-2 shootout loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday. After a 4-2-1 start, the fall down in the standings wasn’t expected. The easy person to blame in the coach – always has been, always will be. But this is […]
View image | gettyimages.com Shayne Gostisbehere got a small taste of the NHL as an emergency call-up last season. He played in two games before going back to the AHL. Five games later, his season was over after an ACL injury. The Flyers game in Carolina on Saturday night, Nov. 14, was a long […]
View image | gettyimages.com After missing the last game and being held out of practice on “maintenance days,” the Flyers revealed Thursday what many had already inferred. Forward R.J. Umberger is out for one to two weeks with a lower-body injury. Umberger blocked a shot with his foot in his last game on Saturday […]

In the early morning hours of November 10, 1985, Flyers star goaltender Pelle Lindbergh crashed his red Porsche in Somerdale, NJ, not far from the Flyers practice facility in Voorhees. The crash left him brain dead, and he died at age […]
As the Philadelphia Flyers crawled out of their six-game losing streak with a win against the Winnipeg Jets, fans can finally be hopeful. With improving power-play action, offense hopefully getting fire under their skates and scoring and defense carrying pucks with no turnovers, one may dream of improvements. Dream of quick improvements. Here are three […]
Flyers defenseman Evgeny Medvedev sat out Monday's game as a healthy scratch, the first time the Russian blue liner missed a game this season. At the time, GM Ron Hextall explained the decision, calling it an adjustment to the North American game. Turns out, it may be something else. Hextall announced that Medvedev is traveling […]
View image | gettyimages.com Take in these stats. Defenseman Mark Streit leads the team in points with seven in 10 games. Defenseman Luke Schenn has more goals, one, and more points, four, than Jake Voracek — no goals and three points — and Schenn has been a healthy scratch for four games. Expected secondary scorers are […]
