The Flyers took full advantage of a team without their top player and captain. In the first period, they scored three goals in a span of 4:01. In the second period, they added three more in a span of 4:07. That was more than enough in a 6-1 win on Thursday night that continued the team’s incredible run of success on home ice.
The Flyers remain on home ice for their next game, a Thursday night matchup against the Buffalo Sabres.
It was far from a perfect game, but with the help of great goaltending and some timely scoring in the second and third periods, the Flyers were able to snap a three-game losing streak with a 4-1 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night at Wells Fargo Center.
The Flyers have a 10-2-4 record on home ice and three of the next four games will be there, allowing them a chance to put an end to the losing streak and return to the win column. Their first chance is on Tuesday night when they face the Anaheim Ducks.
Teams go through a lot of the same things — notably injuries — and find ways to overcome them and be successful. At the end of the day, this is just three games on an 82-game schedule. Three games do not wipe out what the Flyers had done over the previous 20.
Following a 4-1 loss to Minnesota, the team’s first set of back-to-back regulation losses since Oct. 27 and 29, the Flyers have to get right back on the ice on Sunday to finish up a three-game road trip. They take on the Winnipeg Jets.
With Oskar Lindblom certainly on their minds, the Flyers will get back on the ice for the first time since a 3-1 loss in Colorado, looking to get back to the win column. They take on the Minnesota Wild, a team that has been very good on home ice to the tune of an 8-1-3 record this season.
Nothing changes for Oskar Lindblom on his new journey following a diagnosis of Ewing’s sarcoma. He’s already had to fight to make it to the NHL and done so with a worker’s attitude and drive to succeed. Without a doubt, his new journey and fight to beat this disease is one he’s ready to face too.
The Flyers were not able to overcome their shorthanded lineup and capitalize on chances in a 3-1 loss to the Avalanche on Wednesday night.
