Well, in my post earlier, I failed to notice one possibility: the Detroit Tigers.  With former hitting coach Lloyd McClendon taking the manager's job with the Seattle Mariners, the Tigers had a vacancy.  Wally Joyner was in search of a hitting coach job (rather than be "assistant").  According to MLB.com, Joyner has taken the hitting coach position with the Tigers.  And, an old friend will be going with him.

Mick Billmeyer, a Phillies coach since 2003, will also take a job on the Detroit Tigers' staff, filling the role of bullpen coach.  Billmeyer was first a catching instructor and then took over the Phillies' bullpen in 2009.  This is Billmeyer's second major league job.

As for Joyner, he may have agreed to return to the Phillies with the stipulation that if he could get a promotion in another organization he be allowed to take it.  And Joyner did get just that.  Now, he gets to hire his own assistant hitting coach.  And the Phillies have one more slot to fill, too.
