The Philadelphia Phillies have clinched the No. 2 seed in the National League for the 2025 MLB postseason, earning a first-round bye and a spot in the NL Division Series (NLDS). With this , the Phillies await the outcome of the NL Wild Card Series to determine their opponent.

Wild Card Scenarios

As the postseason approaches, the final NL Wild Card spot remains undecided. The Cincinnati Reds and New York Mets are vying for the position, with the following scenarios:

  • Reds Clinch with:

    • A win against the Milwaukee Brewers, or

    • A loss by the Mets to the Miami Marlins

  • Mets Clinch with:

    • A win against the Marlins, AND

    • A loss by the Reds to the Brewers

The Reds hold a tiebreaker advantage over the Mets due to a better head-to-head record, making their path to the postseason slightly more favorable. The winner of the final spot will head to Los Angeles for a best-of-three game series against the Dodgers.
