The former Philadelphia Eagles defenders are on the move again after mutually parting ways with their current teams, potentially opening the door for reunions. 

The Eagles may have a few defender options to consider for their roster.

On Tuesday, two former Eagles negotiated their release from their current contracts.

Unquestionably, the bigger position fit for the Eagles to consider would be Darius Slay, who is out of Pittsburgh after they signed Asante Samuel to the active roster.

The Eagles have had some struggles in the secondary, so a corner could help.

That said Adoree’ Jackson has been pretty good since the first game – the biggest issue is that he has been injured in many games and come out for times. The options behind him have not lived up to the hopes fans had.

The Eagles also are in need of safety help if they think that could be a play or potentially free up someone else to move to safety.

Despite that, it’s no sure thing. Slay has had an atrocious season that certainly seems to indicate Howie Roseman and the Eagles front office were wise not to garauntee him much money and spend cap space on him:

Still, perhaps a change of scenery and a new scheme helps him get back on track. If a deal can be made without the Eagles spending too much, there’s no reason they can’t kick the tires.

On the flip side, there’s linebacker Kyzir White.

White has shown he’s got gas in the tank, but has dealt with injuries and negotiated his release from the worst team in the NFL by record – the Titans.

He’s probably not a fit for the Eagles, who already had first-round pick Jihaad Campbell not play any defensive snaps last week due to the presence of Baun and Dean, but he’ll be a name to watch for contenders looking for linebacker help.

White played for the Eagles in 2022 as one of their top linebackers for a team that made the trip to Super Bowl LVII. He followed Jonathan Gannon to the Cardinals and played there for the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
