There has been mounting chatter around the state of the Philadelphia Eagles offense, and this week brought the strongest indication yet that changes—at least in involvement—may be underway. According to ESPN’s Tim McManus, head coach Nick Sirianni has been “more involved in the offensive preparations this week,” a point later confirmed by beat writer Jeff McLane.

Coming off a mini bye and a stretch of dreadful offensive performances, Sirianni reportedly inserted himself more into the weekly process, specifically with game-planning discussions. Offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo still ran offensive meetings and will retain play-calling duties Monday night against the Chargers, but Sirianni was said to be more present and more vocal when shaping the plan.

The workflow did not dramatically shift—Sirianni and Patullo have long collaborated on scripting and play calling structure—but the nuance matters. The hope internally is that diving deeper into the playbook and introducing more variation will create cleaner production. The offense has lacked rhythm and explosiveness for much of the season.

Part of that initiative reportedly included extended conversations between Sirianni and quarterback Jalen Hurts, something Hurts referenced earlier this week. Those talks centered on doing more of what Hurts does best—designed movement, tempo adjustments, more defined throwing windows, and quicker decisions that play to his strengths. At times, the offense has seemed misaligned with Hurts’ instincts, which has fueled outside narratives regarding philosophy.

Given the circumstances, none of this is particularly surprising.

The Eagles sit squarely in the NFC playoff picture, but the offensive identity has not been consistent. With a critical late-season push beginning Monday night, Sirianni’s heightened presence may be less about change and more about recalibration—and reconnecting directly with the quarterback tasked with running it.
