Earnie Stewart may be gone but it isn’t all doom and gloom for the Philadelphia Union

Embed from Getty Images It's officially official, after the whispers became a murmur, Earnie Stewart has been hired as the first-ever general manager of the United States Men's National Team.  In this role, Stewart will (possibly) be tasked with hiring the new coach of the team and ensuring qualification for the team for the 2022 […]

An ode to Ilsinho, a player that can make dysfunctional function.

Embed from Getty Images The Philadelphia Union attack is in a weird place this season. They're creating chances at a good rate but they aren't necessarily good chances. But when a good chance is created, it doesn't end up in the back of the net. David Accam almost wants to be a second striker leaving […]

Philadelphia Union miss opportunities in draw with the Crew

On Saint Patrick’s day at Talen Energy Stadium, the Son’s of Ben were gifted with a start from the new Philadelphia Union number 10, Borek Dockal in a 0-0 draw with the Columbus Crew.
Replacing Anthony Fontana, Dockal looked like he needed time to settle in in the early going. But while that happened the Union defense held firm and kept the fast-starting Crew off of the scoreboard. In their second game together, the pairing of Auston Trusty and Jack Elliott looked more assured and were able to keep Zardes at bay.

Have the Philadelphia Union found their 10 in Borek Dockal?

With a preseason injury to Ilsinho, it looked like the Philadephia Union would open the season with a combonation of the unproven duo of  Adam Najem and Anthony Fontana. While it would be good that the team would be playing their kids, it wouldn’t bode well for a team that needs to win now following their investment in David Accam earlier this offseason.
Luckily reports are showing that the Philadelphia Union are in negotiations with an attacking midfielder/right winger, Borek Dockal. The Czech international is currently playing for Henan Jianye in the Chinese Super League following stops with AC Sparta Praha, Rosenborg BK, FC Slovan Liberec and Atiker Konyaspor during his career. Dockal has Europa League experience which could make this a very interesting get for the Philadelphia Union. His agency broke the news that he is traveling to the states for contract negotiations.

Do the Philadelphia Union really need a number 10?

Embed from Getty Images The Philadelphia Union have gotten the offseason to a great start by locking up Andre Blake, signing Home Grown players and trading for David Accam. But all signs point to them not being done with the offseason with Jim Curtin and Earnie Stewart wanting to add a 10 to the roster. […]
