2025 NFL Draft: Penn State Edge Rusher Abdul Carter Drafted No. 3 Overall by the New York Giants

As expected, the Penn State Nittany Lions edge rusher Abdul Carter heard his name called early on Thursday night. The Philadelphia native was selected No. 3 overall by the New York Giants.

The LaSalle College High School product was considered best “true” defensive player in the NFL Draft by many draft experts. The Athletic‘s Dane Brugler ranked Carter as the No. 1 edge rusher and No. 2 overall player available in the draft. Carter will join a Giants’ defensive unit that struggled in 2024-25, the 2024 consensus All-American and Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year should make an immediate impact for New York.
