Flyers vs. Devils Preview: Three’s a Crowd

On Thursday, the Flyers played the first of three games against the New York Islanders in 15 days. On Saturday, they play the first of three games against another team, one they will see three times in just 12 days.

A three-goal road trip concludes against the New Jersey Devils with a Saturday afternoon matchup. The Flyers come in with wins in three of the last four games and points in four straight. The Devils have a five-game points streak, but have just two wins in their last nine games.

Flyers Devils Players to Watch

For the second time in a week, Travis Konecny had a huge night setting up his teammates. He had three assists in Thursday’s win against the Islanders after picking up four assists against the Ducks last Saturday. Konecny has gone five games without a goal, but has eight assists in that time.

Jack Hughes had a big night against Toronto on Thursday, scoring a goal and adding two assists for a three-point game in an overtime loss. It was the third multi-point game for Hughes in the last four games. Hughes has three goals and nine points in the last six games.


Flyers Devils Goalie Matchup

Sam Ersson is gets the start for the Flyers. Ersson made 26 saves on 29 shots in the win over the Islanders on Thursday. Ersson has won three straight starts and six of his last eight. In his last six starts, Ersson has allowed 10 goals while making 134 saves on 144 shots, a .931 save percentage.

Jake Allen is expected to start for the Devils. Allen’s last start came on New Year’s Day, making 21 saves on 23 shots in a loss to the Los Angeles Kings. After starting the season with a 5-2-1 record, Allen has lost five straight starts. His last win came on Nov. 23 against Washington.
