Flyers vs. Devils Preview: Three-peat?

The Flyers and New Jersey Devils had three meetings on the schedule in January, starting with an afternoon matchup on Jan. 18. The Flyers claimed that game, 3-1, in a match that featured just 31 combined shots.

Monday’s game between the two teams featured many more shots on goal. The Devils had 33 alone, but the Flyers were on the right side of the result again in a 4-2 win.

Now, the Flyers get the chance to sweep the three games in the month of January against the Devils, as they head back to Prudential Center on Wednesday night.

Flyers Devils Players to Watch

Bobby Brink scored a power-play goal in Monday’s win over the Devils. It was his second goal in the last five games, the other also coming on the power play against the Devils on Jan. 18.

Dougie Hamilton has six points in his last five games, including five in the last three games. he has scored two of his three goals in that time against the Flyers. Since Jan. 6, Hamilton has nine points in 10 games.


Flyers Devils Goalie Matchup

Sam Ersson is expected to start for the Flyers. Ersson made 31 saves on 33 shots in a win over the Devils on Monday. Ersson also made 12 saves on 13 shots against the Devils on Jan. 18.

Jake Allen gets the start for the Devils. Allen made 22 saves on 25 shots in a loss to the Flyers on Monday. Allen also took the loss to the Flyers on Jan. 18, allowing two goals on 17 shots.
