Jaiden Glover-Toscano Leads Hawks To Win Over Coppin State

Philadelphia: As we know, during any season, there are going to be those types of games to see where the team stands.

That is what we saw with the Saint Joseph’s Hawks as they took on the Coppin State Eagles from Hagan Arena. The Hawks came into this game off an emotional win over Temple in the Big 5 Classic while Coppin State would be heading to Hawk Hill after a loss to Liberty.

This would also be Coppin State’s 2nd trip to Philly this season – they lost to LaSalle opening week.

How the game went:
At the start of the game, both Saint Joseph’s & Coppin State got off to a slow start, but the Eagles would get the scoring party started with a dunk.

The Hawks responded with 2 at the line from Derek Simpson. The Eagles would bring the pressure to the Hawks, going into the 1st media timeout with a 7-6 lead.

After the timeout, the Hawks would start to show Coppin State that it was going to be a fight for the rest of the game.

The Hawks would start to take control, but Coppin State said, “Not so fast” and would get the lead down to 3 at 18-15 with 9:20 left in the half.

At one point, the Hawks would have the lead up to 15 on 4 separate occasions in the first half – with the last one being 41-26 on a 3-pointer from Anthony Finkley.

The Hawks would take a 43-26 lead into halftime.

Could Coppin State come out and make it a game or would the Hawks keep showing they are getting better and why they are on 3 3-game winning streak?

In the second half, Saint Joseph’s Justice Ajogbor would have a sick block:

The 3-pointers would start to fall for the Hawks and they would get the lead up to 25 on 3 separate occasions, with the last being 80-55 on a 3-pointer from Austin Willford at 4:52 left.

As the final horn sounded, the Saint Joseph’s Hawks would take down Coppin State 87-65.

St. Joe’s is now on a 4-game winning streak.

The Saint Joseph’s Hawks are now on a 4-game winning streak & will head on the road for battle with Syracuse on Thursday at 9 PM on the ACC Network.

Coppin State is going to look to see what is not working and attempt to get things fixed as they battle Radford on December 14.
