Well, at least one current Eagle received an award Thursday night.

Eagles running back Saquon Barkley was awarded the Offensive Player of the Year award.

Barkley is, of course in the midst of a career and all-time year.

He was close to setting the regular season rushing record and almost assuredly would have if he hadn’t sat out the final game of the season and many fourth quarters where the game was already away. He needs just 30 yards to break Terrell Davis’ record for most rushing yards in the regular season and playoffs in a season.

It was really no contest that Barkley would win this award.

Barkley had also been a finalist for MVP, but was passed over for a quarterback (shocking).

The Eagles were otherwise shut out of awards. Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell were DROTY finalists and Jared Verse won (Mitchell came in second in voting). Vic Fangio was an ACOTY finalist, but Detroit’s Ben Johnson won and the fans of Detroit will currently tell you they hate him and he really wasn’t that good anyway. Zack Baun was a DPOTY finalist and probably should have been the favorite, but he doesn’t have name recognition meaning many of the voters probably don’t even know who he is.
