Jan 14, 2025; Columbus, Ohio, USA; Columbus Blue Jackets right wing Kirill Marchenko (86) scores the game winner past Philadelphia Flyers goalie Ivan Fedotov (82) during the shootout at Nationwide Arena.

On Monday night, the Flyers win marked the first time they had won back-to-back games since Dec. 10 and 12. They had not won three straight games since Nov. 27 to 30.

They were less than five minutes away from doing so, when the stars of the Columbus Blue Jackets took over.

Columbus tied the game with 4:37 remaining in the third and scored twice in the shootout, as the Flyers fell, 3-2, on Tuesday night.

The Flyers wasted no time getting on the board. At 3:44, Nick Seeler found Bobby Brink wide open on the backdoor for the easy tip-in goal, his fifth of the season to make it 1-0.

Columbus evened things up at 10:27. A turnover at the offensive blue line by the Flyers allowed Zach Werenski to go in on a breakaway and score, his 14th of the season to make it 1-1.

Through 20 minutes, shots were 8-8.

Both teams had power plays and several scoring chances in the second period, but both goalies were on top of things, keeping the game knotted at 1-1. Through two periods, shots were 17-17.

The Flyers got the lead back at 8:13 of the third. Owen Tippett scored off the rush for his 13th goal of the season to make it 2-1.

With 4:37 remaining in the third, Columbus got the game tied up again. Werenski finished off a two-on-one for his second goal of the game and 15th of the season.

After a scoreless overtime, Kent Johnson and Kirill Marchenko scored the goals in the shootout to hand the Flyers the loss.

Ivan Fedotov made 27 saves on 29 shots in the loss. Daniil Tarasov made 23 saves on 25 shots in the win.

The Flyers are back on the ice on Thursday night to face the New York Islanders at 7:30 p.m.
