Flyers Score 2 in 2nd, Defeat Predators

On the first shot of the game, the Flyers trailed. It could have been a sign of things to come, as the Flyers spent most of the first period defending their own zone. But they weathered the storm, scored twice in the second, and never looked back.

The Flyers secured a 3-1 win over the Nashville Predators on Thursday night, sweeping a two-game road trip.

The Predators opened the scoring just 1:44 into the game. A shot by Filip Forsberg was floating wide, but deflected off of Ryan O’Reilly then Jamie Drysdale and past Dan Vladar to make it 1-0 Nashville.

The Predators opened up a 9-1 lead in shots in the opening period before the Flyers closed the gap to 10-7 by the end of the period.

The Flyers tied the game at 4:43 of the second. Matvei Michkov scored his second of the season from the slot off a nice feed from Cam York to make it 1-1.

With 2:23 to play in the period, the Flyers took the lead. Noah Cates put home a rebound for his fourth goal of the season to make it 2-1.

Through two periods, shots were 20-17 Nashville.

The one-goal lead held up throughout the third, as the Flyers killed off two penalties in the process.

With 1:12 to go, Travis Konecny iced the game with an empty-net goal, his fifth of the season.

Vladar made 23 saves on 24 shots in the win. Juuse Saros made 23 saves on 25 shots in the loss.

Konecny and York each had two points for the Flyers.

The Flyers now return home to take on the Ottawa Senators on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
