Report: Flyers F Tyson Foerster to Miss Start of Season with Bicep Injury
In the final nine games of the 2024-25 season, several Flyers increased their productivity in the aftermath of John Tortorella’s firing. One of those players was Tyson Foerster, who managed to reach the 25-goal mark with nine goals in the final nine games.
That helped Foerster earn a bridge deal that was both fair to the team and a bet on himself, a two-year deal with a $3.75 million AAV.
But now, it appears Foerster’s 2025-26 season may not get off the ground right away. According to a report from Anthony SanFilippo of On Pattison, Foerster recently suffered a biceps injury that could cause him to not only miss the start of the 2025-26 season, but an extended amount of time.
The 23-year-old could potentially miss as much as three months if the injury is as bad as feared, according to the report.
As free agency opened on Tuesday, there were reports that the Flyers were interested in Corey Perry. The veteran ultimately signed a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Kings worth $3.5 million.
Instead, the Flyers opted for short-term deals on Christian Dvorak, Noah Juulsen, Dennis Gilbert, and Dan Vladar. They still have to sign RFA defenseman Cam York, and are awaiting a decision from Russian free agent Maxim Shabanov, who has long been rumored to be an option for the Flyers.
Otherwise, it appears the Flyers are both awaiting further reports on Foerster’s condition and waiting out the market to see what may be available as a replacement.
