Philadelphia Phillies 26 Man Roster Version 1.0

The Philadelphia Phillies are coming off an impressive 2024 MLB season including a 95-67 regular season record and their first National East League Division title in over a decade. But in the end, the Fightins were unceremoniously knocked out of the 2o24 MLB Playoffs by their NL East rival, the New York Mets. On the eve of the first full squad work out of Spring Training, here’s a look at what the 2025 Phillies 26-man roster could look like heading into 2025 Opening Day against the Washington Nationals.Â
Philadelphia Phillies 26-man Roster Version 1.0
CatchersÂ
C J.T. Realmuto – Realmuto is looking to bounce back after being limited to 99-games last season due to a knee injury.
C Rafael Marchán – Marchan knocking on the door for the backup catcher role. However, this all depends on if he can stay healthy during spring training. Should he make the team, Marchan could see significant time depending on the health of Realmuto.Â
Infielders
1B/DH Bryce Harper – After putting up impressive offensive numbers last season and winning his fourth Silver Slugger Award, Harper will look to continue his dominance this upcoming season.Â
2B/SS Bryson Stott – Stott is expected to enter spring training healthy and improve upon his numbers from last season. He dealt with elbow soreness last season which caused his numbers to drop significantly at the plate.
SS Trea Turner – Turner found great success at the plate before the All-Star break but ran into some struggles after it. Turner will look to be more consistent this upcoming season.
3B Alec Bohm – Bohm off the season strong but struggled in the second half and postseason. The 28-year-old did suffer a left-hand injury, which impacted his performance at the end of last season. An off-season trade candidate, he is for a fresh start this spring training and looking carry that momentum into the season.Â
Outfielders
RF/LF/DH Nick Castellanos – Put up stellar regular season numbers at the plate for the Phillies. Castellanos was a reliable source of offense as well, playing in 159 games last season. He will look to continue his impressive offensive output this upcoming season.Â
LF Max Kepler – Signed as a free agent this offseason, Kepler spent last season with the Minnesota Twins. Kepler’s season was cut short last year due to a knee injury. He can put up solid offensive numbers and bring stability to the Phillies outfield.
LF/CF/RF Brandon Marsh – Marsh performed well against right-handed pitchers last season but struggled mightily against left-handed pitchers. The Phillies are hoping Marsh addressed this issue in the off-season. He provides Gold Glove ability in the outfield.
CF Johan Rojas – With the outfield mainly solidified, Rojas will see time as the fourth outfielder. With his top-level speed, Rojas can provide a spark off the bench in late innings as an outfielder and pinch runner.Â
Utility Players
INF/OF Edmundo Sosa – Sosa provides great depth for the Phillies batting order. He put up solid numbers when his number was called last season. Â
OF Weston Wilson – With the Phillies having an abundance of left-handed hitters, Wilson brings balance to the bench as a right-handed hitter. Wilson performed well when he was slotted into the lineup and became the 10th Philadelphia Phillies player to hit for the cycle.
INF/OF/DH Kody Clemens – Yet another left-handed batter that could provide depth off the bench for the Phillies this upcoming season.Â
2B Buddy Kennedy – The Millville, NJ native can provide more bench depth as a right-handed batter. Didn’t see a lot of action this past season.Â
Designated HitterÂ
DH Kyle Schwarber – Schwarber was a great leadoff hitter last season putting up tremendous numbers at the plate.Â
Starting Pitchers
LHP Jesús Luzardo – Acquired from the Miami Marlins in trade during this offseason, Luzardo battled through injuries the majority of career including last season. However, when healthy he has tremendous upside as a left-handed pitcher.Â
RHP Aaron Nola – Nola has been a consistent starting pitcher for the Phillies going into his 11th season with the organization. He will once again be a key pitcher in the starting rotation.Â
LHP Cristopher Sánchez – Sanchez earned his way into the starting pitching rotation last season and was named a 2024 National League All-Star in the process. The 2024 NL leader in complete games, Sanchez will look to add to his resume in 2025.
LHP Ranger Suárez – Suarez started last strong but sustained multiple injuries which derailed his 2024 campaign. Despite returning in August, it was clear the injuries impacted his ability. The Phillies are expecting Suárez to come out of spring training healthy and have another strong start.
RHP Zack Wheeler – Wheeler is once again projected to be the number one pitcher in the rotation for the Phillies. He held his own on the mound with 16 wins last season and should continue his prolific pitching this upcoming season.
Bullpen
LHP José Alvarado – Alvarado will once again be heavily relied on this season. Alvarado played in 66 games last season.Â
LHP Tanner Banks – Another option as a relief pitcher for the Bullpen, Bank appeared in 22 games after being traded from the Chicago White Sox. Â
RHP Orion Kerkering – An up and comer, he future closer performed well last year in 64 games pitched. Kerkering once again had an impressive ERA and top-level velocity.Â
RHP Jordan Romano – Romano was acquired this offseason from the Toronto Blue Jays. The righty will likely command most of the save situations for the 2025 PhilliesÂ
RHP Joe Ross – Veteran Joe Ross will add some much-needed right-handed depth in the ‘pen.Â
RHP José Ruiz – Ruiz had a very good 2024 going 5-1 with a 3.71 ERA. He will look to build on 2024 during the 2025 season.
Bold Prediction on the Philadelphia Phillies 26-man Roster Heading into 2025 Spring Training
Third baseman Alec Bohm is poised for a more consistent year at the plate. After starting off last season strong, Bohm’s numbers dropped proceeding the All-Star break. An offseason trade candidate, Bohm is looking to prove the doubters wrong. There’s a belief his second half struggles contributed to a left-hand injury he sustained. Bohm showed great promise last season and has the ability to return to his true form this upcoming season.Â
