Phillies Injury News: Andrew Painter to Start on Thursday for Triple-A Lehigh Valley

The Philadelphia Phillies are getting closer to having MLB Pipeline top prospect Andrew Painter on a big-league mound.
According to Phillies skipper Rob Thomson, Painter is expected to make his next rehab start on Thursday, May 14 when the IronPigs take on the Syracuse Mets at NBT Bank Stadium in Syracuse. It will mark Painter’s second start for Lehigh Valley; he made his Triple-A debut last week striking out five batters and allowing one-hit in three innings for the ‘Pigs. Painter reached the 60-pitch limit last week and is expected to up his workload to 70-75 pitches on Thursday.
According to president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski, the Phillies still plan to bring Painter to the Big Leagues around July.

- He did touch 100-MPH on the radar gun

- Painter is expected to pitch on Friday, April 18 for the Threshers

UTL Weston Wilson (strained left oblique, 10-day injured list)
- Wilson began his rehab assignment on April 8 for Single-A Clearwater
- He was moved to Triple-A Lehigh Valley and is expected to start and play all nine innings on Tuesday, April 15
- Wilson must be placed on the activated and placed on the MLB roster by April 28 or he will need to be optioned to the minors
