Ron Hextall killed the buzz of Nolan Patrick being at Development Camp by announcing the Flyers top pick would not participate in on-ice activities after having surgery 10 days before the NHL Draft. Immediately, speculation went up about Patrick’s availability for training camp and his chances of making the roster. By having the surgery when he did this offseason, not much changes in regards to Patrick’s immediate future.
In all, 40 prospects will be at Development Camp, hosted at Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees from Friday, July 7 to Wednesday, July 12.
The Flyers are expected to officially sign goalie Brian Elliott on Saturday and are reportedly finalists to land Justin Williams.
Brayden Schenn was oft-maligned as a power-play specialist because he “only scored power-play goals.” But is that all Schenn brought to the table for the Flyers? The numbers over the past four seasons suggest otherwise.

With under two days until free agency begins, the Flyers managed to keep one of their players around for a little while longer. Jordan Weal has re-signed with the Flyers on a two-year deal. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
Steve Mason’s agent confirmed he will not return to the Flyers, while Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman is reporting that the Flyers could be front-runners to land Brian Elliott.
The Flyers aren’t in the market for much in free agency besides a goaltender, and there aren’t many definitive open spots on the roster that could fit a veteran player. That said, two former Flyers are on the market, and their names are coming up in regards to the Flyers.
We are four years into Ron Hextall’s tenure as general manager, and one thing he has excelled at is adding young talent to the Flyers’ system.
Now that it’s no secret that the young players and prospects are coming, the Flyers will also be looking for some key contributions from them in the near future, particularly the forwards who are going to be asked to replace Brayden Schenn’s production.
