Former Flyers forward Mark Recchi is joining the Hockey Hall of Fame as a member of the 2017 class with Teemu Selanne, Paul Kariya, Dave Andreychuk, Danielle Goyette, Clare Drake and Jeremy Jacobs.

For the Flyers, there was no way to go wrong with the second overall pick. Nolan Patrick was certainly going to get rave reviews and did. But what about the rest of the picks, including the two picks they traded up for at 27th overall and 35th overall? So far, the Flyers have been getting positive reviews on that end as well. Here’s what others are saying about the Flyers draft.

Overall, Hextall emerged from the weekend on the winning end because he drafted well, at least in the here and now based on small sample size of prospects. But while his deal centered around Schenn brings into question the Flyers short-term success, it is a move that propelled the Flyers into the future.

Another draft is in the books for the Flyers and GM Ron Hextall. In all, the Orange and Black added seven more prospects on Day 2. Hextall reviewed the picks following the draft and noted that despite trading Brayden Schenn, the Flyers are not rebuilding, but starting to shift the focus on bringing prospects in.

After adding three forwards in the first 35 picks of the NHL Draft, the Flyers added another six players in Rounds 3-7 to close out Day 2. So let’s meet the rest of the 2017 draft class. Here are scouting reports on all of the newest Flyers prospects.

With the 196th overall pick, the Flyers selected Wyatt Kalynuk.

With the 168th overall pick, the Flyers selected Swedish center Olle Lycksell.

Day 2 continued for the Flyers with their fifth round pick. With the 137th overall pick, the Flyers selected left winger Noah Cates.

With the 106th pick, the Flyers selected left wing Matthew Strome from Hamilton in the OHL. With the 107th pick, the Flyers selected right wing Maksim Suchko from Owen Sound in the OHL.
