Things fell apart in the final eight minutes of the third period for the Flyers. They allowed two goals in 18 seconds as the Penguins tied the game, then Kris Letang scored the game-winner in overtime in a 5-4 defeat on Tuesday night.

The Flyers play on Tuesday night on the road against the Pittsburgh Penguins, a team that now sits atop the Metropolitan Division, albeit with several games in hand for their competitors. There is some history on the line for one superstar player, as the Flyers look to avoid a third-straight loss entering a daunting stretch of games that could produce another historic streak. 

Since getting introduced as Special Assistant to the GM, Danny Briere is looking to make a name for himself. If this season continues to get worse, he might soon be in position to be Chuck Fletcher’s replacement.

Moritz Seider scored the deciding goal in the third period as the Red Wings swept the home-and-home against the Flyers with a 4-2 result.

GM Chuck Fletcher met with the media on Friday morning in the wake of an announcement that Sean Couturier had undergone back surgery that morning and would be out for the remainder of the season. Fletcher also provided more insight to the uncertain returns of both Ryan Ellis and Kevin Hayes in the 2021-22 season.

One day after officially being named a special assistant to the general manager, Danny Briere met with the media on Wednesday morning to discuss the new role and how he factors into those plans.

The Detroit Red Wings took the lead in the second period and never looked back, finishing off a 6-3 result on Wednesday night at Wells Fargo Center.
