Winnipeg Jets

Following a 4-1 loss to Minnesota, the team’s first set of back-to-back regulation losses since Oct. 27 and 29, the Flyers have to get right back on the ice on Sunday to finish up a three-game road trip. They take on the Winnipeg Jets.

Last week, it was already known that the President’s Trophy winners, the Tampa Bay Lightning, were eliminated, as were the Pittsburgh Penguins. Six other teams have joined, and many of them were near the top of the regular-season standings.

The Tampa Bay Lightning, a team that tied an NHL record with 62 wins in the regular season, were swept by the Columbus Blue Jackets in four games. The Pittsburgh Penguins, the Stanley Cup champions in 2016 and 2017, were also swept by the New York Islanders in four games.

Carter Hart and the Flyers picked right back up where they left off before the break.The result was a fourth straight win, a 3-1 defeat of the Winnipeg Jets that started off slow, but finished solid and steady.

Goals by Travis Konecny and James van Riemsdyk and another solid game in goal from Carter Hart led the Flyers to a 3-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets for their fourth straight win.

The Flyers return to the ice on Monday, ready to return to game action. Their first opponent is one of the top teams in the Western Conference, the Winnipeg Jets, who enter tied for the Central Division lead.

With little to cheer for Philadelphia, the Flyers’ new GM might look to swap players around as everyone is under surveillance during this evaluation period. The question is, how long will it last and who will be gone?
