There is really nothing that could take the attention off of Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz and the injury that officially ended his season on Sunday afternoon. In the Flyers locker room, defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere has a personal connection with the injury, one he suffered three years ago.
Brian Elliott was named the NHL’s third star of the week for the week ending Dec. 10, posting a 3-0-0 record and a .954 save percentage in the Flyers three-game winning streak on the Western Canada road trip.
There’s no doubt the Flyers hottest offensive player is Michael Raffl, who is suddenly up to seven points, including five goals, on the season, all in the last eight games after going the first 21 games of the season without a point.
The Western Canada trip concludes with one final game on the road against the Vancouver Canucks, with the Flyers looking for their first three-game win streak of the season.

With the losing streak over, the Flyers look for a second straight win against the Oilers on Wednesday night in Edmonton. Game time is 9:30 p.m.
Dave Hakstol’s future with the Flyers may be safe for now, and with many kids still so early in development, that may be understandable from Ron Hextall’s perspective. But Hakstol’s management of young players is concerning to his future.

After a lifeless third period against the Sharks that capped off a ninth-straight loss and was followed with a closed-door meeting, you would think there would be some more inspired play by the Flyers. Not even close, as the Flyers displayed a similar lifeless and uninspired approach in a 3-0 loss to the Bruins for their 10th straight loss on Saturday.
The losing streak hit 10 games on Saturday with another lifeless and lacking performance in a 3-0 loss to the Boston Bruins, the Flyers sixth shutout loss of the season.
