Around the NHL: Halfway home, a look at the Eastern Conference at the midway mark

We have just about reached the halfway point of the 2014-2015 regular season. There are currently seven teams in the Eastern Conference that have 50 points or more in the standings.  With 16 teams competing for eight spots, those at the 50 point mark have set themselves up for a playoff push.

Steve Mason saves the Flyers in return to home ice.

The Philadelphia Flyers needed that. Steve Mason made 41 saves. Wayne Simmonds scored once in regulation, then tallied the game winner in the shoot out as the Flyers beat the Ottawa Senators 2-1 on Tuesday night.
