Former Phillies star Jim Thome to throw out first pitch at World Series

Though it won't be as cool as Charlie Sheen potentially throwing out a first pitch would have been, Philadelphia Phillies fans will feel involved in first pitch at Game 7 of the World Series tonight. 

The Cleveland Indians announced via Twitter that Thome will be joined by fellow former Indians slugger Travis Hafner in tonight's pre-game ceremonies:

Thome, who is a member of the Indians Hall of Fame, initially played for the Indians from 1991-2002, before leaving to join the Phillies in free-agency. In his first run with the club, Thome hit 334 of his 612 career home runs, made three All-Star teams and helped the Indians reach a Game 7 of their own in the 1997 World Series, before the team ultimately fell in walk-off fashion to the then Florida Marlins. Thome also returned to the Indians for 22 games in 2011. 

The future Hall of Famer built a legacy of his own in Philadelphia, hitting 101 home runs for the club in parts of four seasons (2003-2005, 2012) and instantly became one of the more beloved players in the club's recent history. Thome was inducted into the Phillies Wall of Fame this past summer.
