Phillies prospect Dylan Cozens wins Joe Bauman Award

Philadelphia Phillies prospect Dylan Cozens finished the season with 40 home runs, the most in Double-A Reading history and the second most in Eastern League history. Since he led all of Minor League Baseball in homers, Cozens was named as the recipient of the Joe Bauman Award.

Cozens, 22, is the third Phillies prospect to win the award, joining Darin Ruf (2012) and Ryan Howard (2004) who hit 38 and 46 respectively during their winning seasons. The 6-foot-6 slugging outfielder hit .276 this season with 40 homers and an Eastern League leading 125 RBIs. Cozens' teammate Rhys Hoskins finished with 38 home runs, tying Darin Ruf for second-place on Reading's franchise list.

The award, formerly known as the round-tripper award, was first given in 2002 and was named after Joe Bauman in 2004, who hit a professional record 72 homers in 1954 while playing for the Roswell Rockets of the Longhorn League.
