Phillies Catcher Realmuto Wins Silver Slugger Award

When the Phillies acquired catcher J.T. Realmuto prior to the 2019 season, they were expecting to get the whole package.  Realmuto’s defense in his first Phillies season was recognized with a Rawlings Gold Glove award.  But the honors did not stop there for Realmuto.  He is being awarded for his work as the best offensive catcher, too.

Realmuto is the winner of the National League Silver Slugger award:

Realmuto is the only Phillie to earn a Silver Slugger award in 2019.

So Realmuto has gold and silver for his mantle.  Could he be done collecting precious medals?  Realmuto is a candidate to earn the Rawlings Platinum Glove award.  Fans can vote until Thursday night for Realmuto to win the Platinum Glove.   That award is announced Friday night.
