After a dominant 2025 campaign in Chicago, the right-hander becomes the Phillies’ first multi-year free-agent reliever signing since Matt Strahm.

Reliever Brad Keller has parlayed an excellent 2025 season with the Chicago Cubs into a well-earned payday with the Philadelphia Phillies.

According to multiple reports, the Phillies have agreed to terms with the 29-year-old right-hander on a two-year, $22 million contract. The deal marks the first time the Phillies have handed out a multi-year contract to a free-agent reliever since signing Matt Strahm ahead of the 2022 season, a clear indication of how highly the organization views Keller.

Keller was outstanding for the Cubs in 2025, posting a 4–2 record with a stellar 2.07 ERA across 68 appearances. He struck out 75 batters while compiling an elite 0.962 WHIP, consistently missing bats and limiting traffic in high-leverage situations. His performance vaulted him into one of the more reliable bullpen arms on the market.

The Phillies are banking on Keller’s recent success translating to Philly, where bullpen consistency has been an ongoing priority. If his 2025 form holds, Keller projects as a late-inning option who can bridge the gap to the back end of the bullpen and provide much-needed stability as the Phillies push toward another postseason run.
