PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia Phillies have acquired 26-year-old minor league RHP Mark Peterson from the Kansas City Royals and have assigned him to Triple-A Lehigh Valley, according to Matt Provence.

Undrafted out of college, the Raleigh, North Carolina native has posted a 2-2 record with a 5.17 ERA and 1.723 WHIP ratio this season through 31 1/3 innings and 17 games at Triple-A Omaha. In 2014, Peterson recorded 22 saves and was named by Baseball America as the Carolina League's Best Reliever, posting a 1.31 ERA and a 1.040 WHIP for the Wilmington Blue Rocks.
